Well since I've seen an increasing amount of questions and misinformation
flying about the roots of house/techno/acid, I decided to dig up an old DJ
magazine with an incredibly informative article.
This article is called the History Of House. I've uploaded it to
hyperreal.com/incoming in plain ascii text format so everyone should have
no problems reading it. The file's name is HistOfHouse.
Anyone with any questions concerning the history of Chicago house, New
York garage, deep house, acid house, techno, UK house... should take a
look. It's not incredibly detailed but it paints an excellent overall
picture. An added interest lies in the fact that it's organized
chronologically.
Some time ago I mentioned an article with a quote from DJ Pierre about
the creation of Acid Tracks... Well this is the article I was referring
to.
I'm not on any other lists that might be interested in this type of
article and I don't read Usenet groups about raves etc. so anyone who
cares can pass on the pointer to the article. Plus I don't know the
proper place for it at Hyperreal so whomever is in charge of the incoming
directory there (Cindy I think) should let us know where it ends up.
Take a look. Education always promotes interesting discussion.
